Test & Tune at St. Thomas Dragway – Cool Air, Fast Cars, Good Vibes

There’s just something about a day at St. Thomas Dragway when the weather actually cooperates.

On May 17, 2026, we headed out for a Test & Tune session, and the place was packed with cars. Not packed with spectators, just cars. And honestly, that’s kind of the best vibe. Racers, daily drivers, weekend warriors, and full-on drag-prepped builds all showing up for the same reason: make some passes and have some fun.

The weather? Pretty much perfect.

Not too hot, not freezing either. Just enough cool wind rolling through the track to keep things comfortable and probably helping a few cars stay happy between runs. If you’ve spent enough time around race cars, you know cooler air always feels like a bonus.

One of the coolest things about Test & Tune nights is the variety. You’ll see fully built drag cars sitting beside someone’s daily driver in the staging lanes. One lane might have something loud and serious with slicks and a parachute setup, while the next lane has a street car that probably still has groceries in the trunk.

That’s what makes these times fun.

Everyone’s out there trying things, dialing in setups, chasing better times, or simply seeing what their car can do down the quarter mile.

Even with fewer spectators around, the pits stayed busy. Cars rolling in and out, people talking setups, checking tire pressure, and waiting for their turn back to the line.

And of course… a few solid launches and passes throughout the night.

I managed to record a few runs while hanging around the track, definitely worth watching if you like hearing engines scream under cool evening air.

A few photos from the day are below too. Sometimes pictures tell the story better than words, tire smoke, cool air, and a lot of cars making the most of a good day at the drag strip.

Not every night at the dragway has to be a massive event. Sometimes all you need is good weather, a busy staging lane, and a bunch of people out having fun with cars.

See you at the next one.
