Spinning Tires, Telling Tales

Track Day Etiquette: A Guide to Annoy Everyone

Ah yes, the track day — where people go to pretend they’re in Fast & Furious 26: The Budget Build Chronicles. But while everyone else is chasing lap times, you’re here chasing something more important: attention. And if you follow this guide carefully, you too can become that guy. You know, the one everyone glares at while muttering under their breath.

1. Revving Loudly in the Pits (Because Nothing Says “I’m Fast” Like Stationary Noise)

Nothing screams “I peaked in high school” like hammering the throttle while parked between two Miatas and a guy eating a granola bar. If your exhaust doesn’t make at least three kids cry and one veteran flinch, are you even track-ready?

Bonus points if you rev it while talking to someone, just to make sure they didn’t hear a single word you said.

2. Ask for Tire Pressure Help Like It’s a Social Experiment

“Hey bro, what PSI do you run?”

“Cool, can I borrow your tire gauge?”

“Also… your compressor? Your torque wrench? Maybe your entire pit setup?”

Listen, nothing builds camaraderie like turning your neighbor’s pit into your personal pit stop. Just don’t forget to act like you’re doing them a favor by asking. It’s tradition.

3. Show Up With a Filthy Car — Inside and Out

Clean cars are for people who care. Show up looking like your Civic just crawled out of a swamp and your interior was used as a raccoon Airbnb. Make others question whether you’re here to race or escape a failed relationship.

Pro tip: Bonus style points if there’s still grocery bags in the trunk during your hot lap.

4. Give Unsolicited Advice to Everyone, Especially the Faster Drivers

“Oh, you trail brake? That’s cute. I just brake late and pray.”

Nothing makes friends faster than telling someone who just beat your lap time that their line could be “a little tighter in turn 3.” Even better if you follow it up with a story about the time you almost bought a Supra but got a Corolla “because it’s lighter, bro.”

5. Leave Trash Everywhere, Especially Chicken Wing Bones

Lunch is sacred. But so is your ability to turn a clean pit into a post-apocalyptic buffet. Wing bones, empty energy drink cans, and a protein bar wrapper from 2019 — let ‘em know you were there.

Make sure your pit space looks like you built a car, a campsite, and a mild health hazard — all at once.

6. Blast Music Nobody Wants

Sure, others are trying to hear their engine, coach, or life choices. But you are here to let the paddock know you have range. Blast EDM, death metal, or — if you’re truly diabolical — Pitbull on repeat.

Extra flair if your Bluetooth speaker is duct-taped to your rearview mirror.

Final Thoughts: Be a Legend, Not a Liability

In all seriousness (briefly), track days are meant to be fun, safe, and a great learning environment. So yeah, don’t actually do most of the above unless your goal is to get black-flagged by humanity. Show up prepped, be respectful, and save the rev-battles for your nightmares.

But hey, if you still want to rev in the pits and ask strangers for PSI advice while eating hot wings on their fender… just make sure you do it in a BMW. That way, expectations are already low.
