Spinning Tires, Telling Tales

Clash of Champions: War on the Asphalt

Welcome to Clash of Champions, hosted by True North Turbo, held at St. Thomas Dragway. And this was no ordinary Sunday. This was the biggest small tire no-prep race ever run on that stretch of asphalt. And yes, it lived up to every shred of hype.

Let me set the stage.

No Prep. No Mercy. No Problem.

Forget sticky prep lanes and comfy grip zones. This was the backside of the track — raw, gritty, and as unforgiving as a high school ex. With water burnout only, it was the perfect storm for wheelspin, white-knuckle launches, and wild lane changes that made you question the laws of physics… and sanity.

Cars weren’t just launching — they were fighting for traction like they owed the pavement money.

And me? I was there for it all. Just vibes, tire smoke, and enough turbo noise to make my phone mic give up.

1PM: The Madness Begins

The clock struck 1 and it was game on. You could feel the tension in the air — part excitement, part race fuel. Drivers lined up with small tire monsters, each one looking like it was built in someone’s garage and tuned by wizards.

Every pass was a story. Some cars launched clean and straight, others crab-walked halfway to Detroit. Some racers crossed the finish line with celebration, others crossed their fingers hoping the rear end stayed attached.

And the crowd? Packed. Enthusiastic. Everyone from hardcore racers to “I-saw-this-on-YouTube” newcomers was glued to the starting line. People leaned on tailgates, sat in lawn chairs, or just stood — hypnotized by the smell of high-octane fuel and the sound of boosted fury.

Some memorable runs? Oh, absolutely. One pass nearly turned into a sideways ballet performance, and another had a guy pop the front wheels like he was trying to FaceTime the moon.

True North Turbo promised the biggest small tire no-prep race ever — and they delivered like FedEx on a deadline.

No Prep. All Heart.

It’s raw. It’s real. It’s ridiculous in the best way. No frills. No excuses. Just drivers, machines, and a strip of pavement that couldn’t care less about your launch strategy.

If you missed it? Well… maybe don’t next time. And if you were there? You know.
